AmeriCorps: Ready To Serve

“I am an AmeriCorps member, and I will get things done,” pledged our 23 newly sworn in members this past Wednesday in Denver. This was the first time the members of this year’s cohort were able to get together to connect with each other and over 200 other members from around the state, and boy are they ready to serve! The AmeriCorps Swearing-In ceremony is a yearly tradition for AmeriCorps members in Colorado. This year’s swearing in ceremony featured remarks by Governor Jared Polis, and Congresswoman Diana DeGette. Both speakers made mention of “the members in green,” a huge point of pride for the AAI team being sworn in!

The next day and a half was full of trainings and discussions organized by Serve Colorado. Collaboration, life after AmeriCorps, and storytelling were all topics of discussion among members and facilitators.

In between and beyond these educational sessions, members had time to share stories of their service, bond, and even ride motor scooters in the big city! What a treat for our members to spend so much time together learning and sharing.
