Stay Wild. Stay Safe. Stay Close to Home.

Just because we have to stay home, doesn’t mean we can’t stay wild. We can all use a little fresh air these days. Spend time in your backyard and feel the warm sun on your face. Treat yourself and your family to the stress-relieving, immunity-boosting, feel-good-vibes that only nature can provide.

Below are some ideas for you to Stay Wild – while staying close to home!

Build a Fort

What is a better way to stay safe than to build a fort? Use a tree as the base and build around it with sticks, rocks, blankets and more! Don’t have a tree in your yard? Use chairs and drape blankets and towels around it!

Go On a Nature Scavenger Hunt

It’s amazing what you can find in your own backyard! Send your kids off on a Backyard Nature Scavenger Hunt and see what they discover. You can print out ideas like the sheet below, or make up your own on a scrap paper for them to use.

Here is a list of ideas, but you can always add your own!

Create Nature Art

The cool thing about nature art is that it can be anything you want it to be!

Ideas:

-Draw what you see

-Trace things like sticks or leaves on paper

-Arrange leaves, sticks, or rocks into cool designs

-Paint sticks or rocks

-Decorate sticks with colorful string

Go Camping!

Backyard campouts are the best! With an adults permission, grab your camping gear (tent, chairs, sleeping bag) and set up in your backyard! If you don’t have camping gear, you can grab blankets and pillows and chairs from inside. If you’re lucky, maybe you can even make s’mores!
