AAI AmeriCorps members took part in a Professional Development session last week which included a Q&A with prior members, a panel of experts, and an AAI board member.
Cassidy Pacheco, the Director of Trauma-Informed Services at the SLV Boys and Girls Club was able to share her extensive experience with social-emotional learning (SEL). Gianna Canestri is a former AAI AmeriCorps member and now a 1st grade elementary school teacher where she had served in the SLV. Chuck McKenna, an AAI board member, attended to give advice from his experience as teacher, principal, psychotherapist, as well as an instructor at community colleges. They were also joined by Denise Ackert, who presented on mindfulness to give our members another tool for success.
