B2B Hot Springs Weekend!

B2B HOT SPRINGS WEEKEND BRINGS MEMBERS TOGETHER FOR COMMUNITY & WELLNESS

Alpine Achievers Initiative held its November Backyard to Backcountry (B2B) event at the Sand Dunes Recreation Hot Springs, bringing together AmeriCorps members from across the region for a weekend of connection, wellness, and time outdoors.

Ten members attended, including two ERR members who traveled from Cañon City and one AmeriCorps member from Mountain Roots Food Project’s Healthy Futures program in Salida. Members were joined by AAI staff, including B2B Coordinator Annika and Director of Operations Julia Makowski.

Many members stayed for both Friday and Saturday nights, taking advantage of the relaxed setting to build community. Weekend activities included board games, puzzles, a growing chess trend, group fitness to prepare for ski season, and restorative time soaking in the hot springs. Some members even found time for mid-day naps.

While this B2B outing wasn’t as rugged as our hikes or ski days, it still reflected the heart of the program. Members soaked in the outdoor pools, spent time in the warm greenhouse-style indoor pool, and took care of their bodies moving and soaking. Most importantly, it offered space to slow down, build relationships across service sites, and take meaningful moments of rest during a busy service year.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined and helped make the weekend such a warm, fun, and memorable experience!
