Yesterday we shared an article by the Denver Gazette about budget cuts for the Youth Mental Health Corps (YMHC). Today, we’d like to share another article about YMHC impact at Ortega Middle School, featuring our very own Berkeley Wall. Berkeley is a second-year AAI AmeriCorps member serving in Alamosa and exemplifies exactly why Alpine Achievers Initiative exists, supporting students who need it. “Children aren’t bad, they just have bad situations,” she says. With the tools she’s learned through the YMHC, Berkeley has changed the lives of many students at Ortega for the better, and AAI is so proud!
